(6/2/23) NARC By The NUM8ER5: Placerville Speedway, By Ben Deatherage … Saturday, June 3rd will be the lone visit of 2023 for the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series. The tour will be in town for the 32nd Annual Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. Placerville is the fifth different track the series has visited in the current campaign.  It will be the third straight year the Bradway has been hosted at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds facility.

A really interesting fact is that Placerville has two track record holders.  The current record is 9.913 seconds, originally set by Tim Kaeding in March of 2004 and was equaled by Evan Suggs in June 2007. In addition, 194 drivers have started an event at Placerville under NARC sanctioning since 2001, and Jason Statler has the most with 29. Jonathan Allard leads the list with the most Podiums (14), and the Top 5 finished (16), while Brent Kaeding tops the Top 10 category (22).

Nineteen drivers have visited the winner’s circle in the last thirty-seven shows since 2001 at the famed ¼-mile clay oval. Tim Kaeding (8) and Brent Kaeding (4) are the tour’s leading winners at the facility, while Kyle Hirst and Jonathan Allard have three wins each. In addition, Bud Kaeding, Sean Becker, Tyler Walker, and Justin Sanders have won twice. At the same time, one-time winners include Jason Statler, Shane Golobic, Dominic Scelzi, Kyle Larson, Cory Eliason, Mike Henry, Stephen Allard, Rico Abreu, Robert Ballou, Giovanni Scelzi, and Corey Day. Day and Giovanni Scelzi are the only two drivers to have been victorious in their one and only NARC start at Placerville.

Dominic Scelzi’s lone triumph at Placerville was in 2021. It’s the only time he has been on the Podium while he has posted five Top 5s and seven Top 10s in twelve starts.  He is looking for his third straight NARC win of 2023 if he can achieve a first-place finish.

Andy Forsberg has yet to win in 410 competition at Placerville despite sixty-nine victories in 360 Sprint Car action, which is all-time on the win list. However, Forsberg does have four Podiums, nine Top 5s, and fourteen Top 10s in twenty-eight starts. Nevertheless, he was among the Top 5 in both visits in 2019.

Willie Croft has a lot of laps at Placerville Speedway, but he has never won there with NARC. His lone Podium performance was third in 2012, and he has finished fourth the last two consecutive years. Croft has eleven Top 10s in nineteen starts.

Another guy with a ton of success at Placerville is Becker. “The Shark” is fourth on the all-time 360 Sprint Car win list with twenty-seven successful outings at the track. His two wins with NARC came in 2004 and 2014. He was 7th at this race last year and has accumulated fourteen Top 5s in eighteen starts.

Justyn Cox is a fellow to keep on the radar too. Despite four starts, he has two Top 10 results, and his only Top 5 run was a fourth-place effort on July 30th, 2016.

Sanders got off to a hot start at Placerville earlier this year by winning the first two 360 Sprint Car events of 2023. He has hit pay dirt twice with wins in 2018 and 2019. Even though he’s won a Bradway in Chico, Sanders would love to accomplish the feat at Placerville. He’s won all the other significant events at the track and would love to add this to his resume.

Bud Kaeding is another driver to take a look at. He is another former Bradway winner to notch the victory at Chico, his two wins all earned in 2016. He has yet to finish out of the Top 10 since 2019 and is looking to continue his wave of good runs.

If you love bullring race tracks and 410 Sprint Cars, you must attend Placerville Speedway this Saturday. Also, invite all your family, neighbors, and friends and bring them along. This is an event you don’t want to miss.
