(6/5/18) Sacramento, CA … Petaluma Speedway will play host to the high-powered open wheel sprint cars of the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Racing Series on Saturday, June 9th, featuring a full-program of exciting championship racing action.

This marks the seventh stop on the ultra-competitive 16-race King of the West-NARC schedule, and the first of two visits to the lightning fast 3/8 mile oval this season.

The month of June represents the toughest stretch of events for teams competing on the traveling series, featuring five races at five different tracks.  It is expected to play a pivotable role in determining and crowning the 2018 series champion, because there is little room for error.

Leading an all-star contingent of California’s best sprint car talent to Petaluma Speedway will be three-time series champ Kyle Hirst of Paradise, CA.  Hirst captured his second win of the season last weekend at Tulare and now maintains a 553-536 point advantage over Elk Grove driver Shane Golobic.

Also in the title hunt is defending series champion Bud Kaeding of Campbell who is just 11 points out of second in the standings.  Between the three drivers, they have captured five of the six races run to date.

Representing the “locals” will be Chase Johnson of nearby Penngrove, CA who is currently fourth in points.  He captured his first King of the West-NARC feature event victory of his career at Petaluma Speedway last season and is looking to repeat that success.

“It was a great feeling winning at Petaluma,” said Johnson, reminiscing about his win, “not only for myself, but for my team as well.  And to do it in front of a hometown crowd capped it off perfectly. The fans at Petaluma are some of, if not the best in the state.”

“Petaluma is always exciting,” continued Johnson, “which is one of the main reasons why the grandstands are always packed.  They expect a good show and we plan to deliver one on Saturday.”

Other entries expected to compete include Grass Valley’s Jason Statler; Willie Croft and Colby Copeland of Roseville; rookie drivers Dustin Golobic of Fremont and Jenna Frazier of Sacramento; Hanford’s DJ Netto; Bobby McMahan of Elk Grove; Atwater’s Nathan Rolfe; Jarrett Soares of Discovery Bay and many more.

Local competitors who will be entering the fray include Geoff Ensign, John Clark, Jake Haulot and Klint Simpson.

The racing program includes qualifying, three 10-lap heat races, the six-lap Sunnyvalley Bacon dash; followed by the 30-lap high stakes Fujitsu Sprint Car Series headliner.  The winner takes home a $3000 paycheck.

Pit gates open at Noon.  Front gates open at 4:00 p.m.  Racing starts at 6:00 p.m.  Also on the racing card is BCRA Midgets, Dwarf cars, and Mini-Stocks.

General admission tickets are $22 with seniors (65+) at $18.00  Juniors aged 6-11 are $18.  Kids five and under are FREE!
