(7/9/17) … The King of the West Series presented by the Northern Auto Racing Club will hold a General Membership Meeting at Ocean Speedway (Watsonville, CA) on Saturday, July 15.  The meeting will be held near the main grandstands in turn four at 3:00 p.m. and is expected to last an hour.  KWS-NARC Business Manager Jim Allen will host the meeting.  On the agenda include plans to seat the organizations new Advisory Board, sponsor updates, and future plans.

The event is part of a busy “Howard Kaeding Classic” race weekend at Ocean Speedway that is sponsored by Al’s Roofing.  On Friday, July 14th, the track will host the Civil War Sprint Car Series.

Saturday’s  race program will feature the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Sprint Car Series.  Also on the docket is the HK Classic BBQ Steak Luncheon at 1:00 p.m.  A $20 donation is requested for the luncheon with proceeds going to a great racing cause – the NARC Benevolent Fund.  The NARC Benevolent Fund helps support families of injured drivers, crew members and officials in California.  The General Meeting will follow the BBQ.

Saturday’s King of the West-NARC promises to be one of the most competitive of the season with the feature event winner earning a stout $5000 payday.  Due to additional sponsorship support from friends of Howard Kaeding, all positions in the feature event will pay premiums above the normal purse.  Second place pays $2500 and third $1900.  Tenth place pay $1000 and it’s $750 to start the 30-lapper.  Among the other awards include a right rear Hoosier Tire for each of the heat race winners.
